I was first
introduced to handbells in 1975 when my mother and I joined the church’s new
handbell choir in Amarillo, Texas.
After a short hiatus to finish college and then a move to Southern California, I
joined the Silver Jubilee Ringers of Santa Clarita UMC.
A year later I was directing the youth handbell choir there.
I spent seventeen years with the Silver Jubilee Ringers before moving to
Redding, CA with my husband, Cary, in 2002.
My husband and I own and operate an RV Park and Campground near Shasta
Lake. I found the Carillons of St.
James Lutheran Church in 2006 while the Carillon’s director, Nancy Schmitt, was
assisting in the startup of a new bell choir at First Church of Redding where I
attend. I admit to being a
“bell-a-holic” and love to ring handbells, be it in small ensembles or
especially with my church choirs.
